So aaaanyway...

... turns out that while I haven't been blogging I have actually been doing other stuff. Most recently going on holidays with the entire Trash Towers household.

All six of us bundled into a car and headed across the country to sample the joys and delights of the Norfolk coast. Yes that is correct, we went from the heights of Hilltop dwelling to the flat fields and huge skies of Norfolk. And not a single nosebleed occurred.

We had booked a little cottage on the coast for a week, the plan being rest, relaxation and time to be together with no pressures and expectations. Cooking would be minimalist (read 'fish&chips and simple pasta meals'), books were packed as were paper, pencils and crafting materials. Pictures on the booking site showed the house to be right in front of the water but not whether we would be stepping onto sand or a good old-fashioned British pebble beach.

Turns out it was sandy but with a MAHOOSIVE concrete wall instead of sand post the tidemark.

Boychild off to boogieboard in the balmy waters of the North Sea at low tide.
This is from the garden gate at high tide.
Our little family beach shack on top of its 'in case of scarily high, flooding waves at high tide' defence. Probably just as well it is there as I was informed that the beach has only just started to come back. Apparently the coastline was washed away over the previous 12 months, up to a metre drop in places!
But it all seems to be coming back because we had days like these on the sand

while the kids enjoyed the delights of the North Sea and braving the surf.
We saw sunrises
 and sunsets.
It was as close to a perfect beach holiday as this Australian thought likely on the North East coast of England.
A joy and a delight to have a real Summer.
