Eleanor's meme

What are your current obsessions?
fabric purchasing (oh so addictive)
Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often?
Denim skirt, white t-shirts (long/short/no sleeves), brown cardigans and now that Summer is approaching (fingers crossed) linen trousers.
What's for dinner?
Hmmmm... not sure, had homemade pizza tonight but tomorrow? We shall see....
What's your greatest fear at the moment?
This is a big question. I shall have to think on it.
What are you listening to?
This second? Jonathon Ross is interviewing Tom Hanks. Daylight hours normally, Radio Four.
What are your favourite holiday spots?
Proper beaches, Australian beaches.
What are you reading right now?
The computer screen - hahahahahahahahahaha! Ummm.. oo! oo! CK gave me a present tonight of Gavin Pretor-Pinney's The Cloudspotter's Guide.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Televisually I love to watch Katie and Peter : Stateside. Even though I can feel my brain oozing out through my nose as I watch I keep going back every week.
Who or what makes you laugh?
CK. Both 'with' and 'at' ;-)
What is your favourite spring thing to do?
Fall in love with tulips all over again.
Where are you planning to travel next?
I may make it to the next town off the hill this weekend as CK will undoubtedly want to visit the D.I.Y. shop (seriously I live the life of Reilly up here).
What is the best thing you ate or drank lately?
Lindt Extra Creamy Milk chocolate.
When was the last time you were tipsy?
Can't remember. Have just asked CK and he can't remember either.
What is your favourite ever film?
Hmmmm... one?
What is the biggest lesson you've learned from your children?
Just my children? I think 'face your fears and go ahead' - I had tears in my eyes watching Princess C-W (age 4) go down a vertical slide when she really felt unsure about it.
Other people's kids? I remember going to watch my seven y.o. niece play her violin in a music recital maaaaaaaaaaaaany years ago. One young girl had a duet with the teacher and just a few notes in it went wrong. So she drew breath and started again. And again the notes went wrong. She stopped, adjusted her violin and began for a third time. Same problem and I could see her teacher getting concerned but once more she drew breath and this time she played it beautifully all the way through. I know adults who would have given up after the second cock-up. I don't know who she was but I often think of that little girl (who would be 21 now!).
What song can't you get out of your head?
Nothing right now but tomorrow morning CK wil play on repeat some crazy find on youtube and it will linger in my brain for the rest of the weekend. It could be something from 'The Crazy World of Arthur Brown' or The Scissor Sisters to Terry Thomas - the possibilities are endless.
What book do you know you should read but refuse to?
(Ducking quickly) Jane Austen. Sorry but she just passes me by. Although I did promise my rather lovely cousin I would try again soon. The other one is Thomas Hardy. Blah, blah, Durzet, blah, blah, melodrama, blah, blah, blah.
What is your physical abnormality/abnormal physical ability?
My ankles click really loudly. (CK says it would be that I 'drive my husband wild like no other woman.' He does not clarify if this is 'wild' in a good way or bad ;-)
What is your favourite colour? Automatically I say green but I wear a lot of brown (a lot!) and I quite like pink.

  2. Oh! That cloudspotters book is so great, I gave it to my mum for her birthday a few years ago and she simply adores it.

I love the story about the violin-playing girl!

  3. (whispers:) I'm with you on Thomas Hardy Trash. It's from the school of 'everyone died and then my leg fell off.' I could do without it.

This is a great read - are your ankles in an orchestra?

  4. Good answers Trashy! I used to love Thomas Hardy when I was about 20 but I don't think I could read his books now. Strange.

  8. I am amazed that you could concentrate on this while Jonathan Ross was interviewing Tom Hanks. I was already in pieces by the end of the Dizzee Rascal interview.

  9. Fascinating read... might pinch this one. I went through a Thomas Hardy phase in my teens (probably thought I was being very deep and meaningful at the time) couldn't stomach it now though!

  10. ooooooooooooh this is a goodie! i may have to pinch eleanor's meme... (phwooooooor--i bet you will, missus!) ...later this week!

ps: one of my ankles clicks really loudly...not alllll the time...just when it's especially quiet and would be quite embarrassing to have a loud clicky ankle...

pss: the "driving wild" comment shows that the male of the species MIGHT learn to evolve and thrive...eventually...evil b-i-l's notwithstanding...

psss: why not try imagining the characters of jane austen as played by katie and peter??! oof--nevermind--i can feel MY brains squishing out of my ears rather rapidly now, which is nice b/c it drowns out the sound of ms. austen spinning in her grave! :)
