Couple of things ...

1. All three of you lovely people who signed up for my Pay It Forward last year have not been forgotten. It is always there in the back of my mind. It is a recognised fact across the innernets that I am absolutely crubbish at sending parcels but it shall happen. Honest.

2. Is there some procedure one should follow when it comes to 'followers'? Is it essential for it to be reciprocal? I ask because in the last month or so I have 'lost' two followers (I know, how careless!) My point is, much as I love y'all, I didn't actually ask for anyone to be my follower and therefore I feel no need for reciprocity. In fact of the two blogs I signed up to follow - one of those doesn't even exist anymore and the other is my sister's. I dare not do anything other than follow her ;-).

  1. I don't see any need to reciprocate... I don't follow those who follow me, necessarily. I follow blogs that are inspiring, unique, witty, smart, creative, thoughtful and full of eye candy. I have some 300+ on my Google Reader that I can't keep up with, so I don't need to add ones that I am not entirely interested in...

But you have to follow me. Or else.

(Oh, I'm just kidding... you didn't think I meant it, did you?!)

  2. Heck no! You do what you want as far as I am concerned. I prefer to have blogs I like on my side bar. I generally don't have follow me blogs as I don't generally use it.

You are on my follow me list though as a matter of fact. No idea why, as I really should transfer you to the side bar. But then that would look like I've taken you off my list wouldn't it?!!

  3. It's your blog and your life - follow who you want. I wouldn't have thought there were any hard and fast rules as to which blog to follow and read and which one not to. Do what seems right to you. If someone gets offended that you aren't "following" their blog then maybe they weren't worth it after all.

  6. Well I don't 'follow' anybody's blog. It just seemed like another gimmicky thing that Blogger put my way (of course it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm too stupid to understand it all). I read all the blogs on my side bar and more besides. Just do what you want Mrs Trashcan, and if you don't want to read a blog or even follow it, then don't. If you never come back to me, I shan't be offended, but that wouldn't stop me reading your insane and thoroughly bonkers blog.

  7. I don't even know how all this following stuff works... seems like something else to keep up with! Very grateful to all my followers though!

  8. Personally, I don't do the follower thing - at least, I don't think that I do. I am overloaded with this technological networking (ravelry, facebook, blogging, email...) and can't be bothered with anything additional - I don't twitter, I rarely update my fb status, and I have become crubbish at blogging.
I read the blogs on my sidebar + a few additional, comment when I can, and KNIT!

  9. Hey I shouldn't worry. I have no followers - I am not smiled on by Google. I signed up to Wordpress.

We all still follow. Hmm, makes us sound like a school outing crocodile don't it?

  10. oh my gosh, you've hit on a "THING" re followers. i too have had and lost and then had various folk at various times...i never know what to do...i do TRY to visit and say hi & stuff... (speaking of "CRUBBISH" thy name is lauren-on-t'internets!!!!!!!!!!) ...i figure anyone cool enough to "get"

  11. I think "followers"is a gimmick that smiles on the fashionable and still leaves the little people out in the cold. I have only just put my followers on my page out of respect for them. I have no idea how they became followers but think it is nice that they took the time to do it. I'm not into "following" because I already do anyway (and I also use Curlypops list of posts or anybody elses I stumble across!). I think it would be horrid to make hard and fast rules about this. Far too many people would be hurt. Cherrie

  12. I don't get the followers thing. I "follow" bloggers through google reader. If I sign up to follow via the blogspot following thing, I end up with duplicates in google reader. So, I'm not following, but I really am. ;-)

  13. I don't consciously do the following thing, or even know whether/how many followers I have. I am pleased with myself as I just managed to update my blogroll (it only took me 18 months) but am slightly worried that it now reveals just how much time I must spend in blog-related activity ...

  14. do what you want.........doesn't have to be reciprocal.......I have healps of blogs in bloglines and some I read intensely and others skim thru...........
your blog your choice........do what you want.........I have had a couple of people ask me to include them on my sidebar......don't like that.........
but I do think you should follow someones blog if you sign up to a swap with them and you can miss messages re the swap.....
...otherwise free choice.........do what you want

  15. Hello :D I'm always losing followers. I think they must have gone to the same place as my blogging mojo. You wait ... one day when I'm cleaning up or tidying round, I will come across a whole pile of mojo and followers. :-D

  16. I don't know how to use google reader, but that would probably be easier for me. I just added you to my followed blogs, I just always forget the feature is there, but I do like it. It puts all the new posts in one place, which I think google reader does too??? Not sure. I don't feel an obligation to follow someone who follows me, unless I truly love their blog/writing. But I live with the philosophy to do only what makes me happy and not just to please others constantly...I may be selfish that way! hahaha woopsie!
