Sadness and Oh dear! :-(

This fabulous plate was painted by my no-blog painty friend. She gave it to me when she closed down her very luvverly shop/painting studio about six weeks ago.
I love the colours, I love the stars and the fish and I love the sense of movement. But most of all I love the owl's wing around the cat's shoulders.

My no-bloggy painty friend makes up these triffically clever ideas and puts them onto plates and bowls and mugs and jugs and, having tried to paint onto china, I remain in awe of her skill and talents.
The sad face came about when my nominated birthday cake plate leapt out of the cupboard
one day and landed on the bench.
"Oh dear!"

My very talented, no-blog friend says not to worry she can do more but it just won't be the same.

  2. A thought:

A simple frame (very plain, to look like a windowframe), with black or very dark blue fabric stretched across the back. Plate attached in upper corner, with broken (so sad!) edge toward the frame corner. Add two pieces of fabric to top of frame, either caught up in a loop on each side of the frame or hanging down below frame. (Are you still wth me? I wish I could sketch this out - it would be so much clearer!) It would look like a full moon peeking in through the curtains at a little cottage window. Magic! :)

  7. Awwww. I hate it when that happens! Many years ago we broke the cookie jar that was in my grandma's house when I was growing up. I'm sure I could find another one on ebay, but like you said, it just wouldn't be the same. You have a great eye for the cute -- love that owl's wing too!
